At least we now know their true priorities
The White House takes four days to respond to a terrorist attempt to blow up an airliner and yet responds a few hours after Cheney speaks? What might they be more focused on?
Bigger is not always better
Compare what Nick Schultz has put together…
It should be as difficult as possible
To pass legislation in this country. Here is to keeping the filibuster in the Senate. Now, what about adding one to the House?
Not So Environmental After All
Why are “environmentalists” so anti-nuke? It simply doesn’t make sense. Especially, when you realize:
Fast breeders are nuclear power plants that can produce more fuel (about 30 percent more) than they use. They can also produce electricity by burning up highly radioactive nuclear waste and the plutonium removed from nuclear weapons. On top of that, the radioactive waste that fast breeders generate after their fuel is recycled decays after just a few hundred years instead of the tens of thousands of years it takes for the waste from conventional reactors to decay. Plus, since fast breeders produce more fuel than they use, there’s no need to mine additional uranium. And finally, new fuel processing technologies have largely allayed concerns that the plutonium produced by fast reactors could be diverted and used to produce nuclear weapons. In other words, fast breeders could be the ultimate in renewable energy.
Plans for 2010
Is this how it works:
Internally, White House aides are plunging into a 2010 plan calling for an early focus on creating jobs, especially in the energy sector, along with starting a conversation about deficit reduction measures, the administration officials said.
I don’t think the White House fully understands how jobs are actually created, that or they are true believers in their ability to manage the economy. Either way, my guess is that it simply won’t work.
But does he know why?
Unfortunately, I doubt it:
“In the long run we can’t continue to spend as if deficits don’t have consequences, as if waste doesn’t matter, as if the hard earned tax dollars of the American people can be treated like monopoly money, that’s what we’ve seen time and time again, Washington has become more concerned about the next election than the next generation.”
Why indeed can’t we spend taxpayer money as if it were Monopoly Money? As funny as it sounds, I don’t think that he actually believes this… Which of course means, he will continue to spend money exactly as if it were Monopoly Money.
Merry Christmas everyone, you are another $1,400,000,000 in the whole.
Looking Like Fools
Those Senators that didn’t hold out for more. Those that did hold out on the Healthcare “un-reform” Bill made out like bandits; $100M to Sen Dodd, $50M to Sen Nelson and $100M to the Sen Landrieu.
Everyone else is looking like a chump.
Is This Even Legal
Paying off Senators with cash obviously is, and much cleaner that what Don Surber is reporting on:
Ben Nelson of Nebraska gets:
“As Part Of The Deal To Win Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s Support, The Federal Government Will Fund Nebraska’s New Medicaid Recipients.” (“Ben Nelson’s Medicaid Deal,” Politico, 12/19/09)
He has put together a list of six senators that held out for the goodies for their respective states. My simple question is, what is the legality around have separate and different Federal rules for each state?
