Calling John Galt

It is much worse than that… We now have a little under four years to muddle through. I am proud to be with Glenn Reynolds on suspecting what has been proven to be true about Candidate and now President Obama.

Now though, we have to suffer through more than simple buyers remorse.

They want to outlaw Farmer’s Markets in the name of food safety? Possibly one of the most asinine proposals in at least the last 10 minutes.

Is it asking too much to have politicians that lead by getting out of the way?

This nation was founded on the idea of freedom, which requires that all speech be free.  To say, what you want, where you want it, how you want to. Without that guarantee, then no speech is free.

My thoughts on the types of speech that can be regulated: NONE

I don’t care if people want to curse me to my face, yell at me, tell me they hate me for being German-Irish, whatever.  It simply doesn’t matter.  As soon as we start limiting that type of speech, will anyone be free to challenge political discourse, to argue in public, or to even voice their opinion?

It can be heated and even degrading, but it all has to be free.

Is there a place for unions in our economy?

American workers are far more likely to belong to the investor class than a union. Just 9% of non-union workers would like to join a union.

Doesn’t look like it!

Regardless of the populism that continues to infect the Executive and Legislative branches of government, AIG deserves its bonuses.  Here is why:

1. The Federal Gov’t has not authority to stop them. Remember the TARP money?  There were no string attached.
2. If the bonuses are merit based, then they deserve them.
3. Companies are more about the people than anything else.  If a company can’t keep the right people, then they will cease to exist.
4. For all the populism, the bonuses represent 0.01% of the bailout money that AIG received
5. It represents ~0.000001% of the federal money spent in the last year…
6. It is the free market!

Now if only our legislators could focus on efficient gov’t spending, including medicare, social security, subsidies, and pretty much every other program that wastes money we would be ok.

It seems that 3/4ths of Americans believe that their taxes will go up, regardless of the fact that President Obama has stated that taxes will go down for 95% of Americans.  We need to get away from the ups and downs related to the tax rates.  This only emboldens the Fed Gov’t and the whole Tax Industry to take money from the rightful owners and redistribute it to whoever they see fit…

I propose that we move to a simple flat tax of 15% of all income and that we do away with all deductions…  Keep it simple, staraightforward and to the point.

Yet the full weight of the Executive Branch and the leadership within Congress have gone after Rush Limbaugh for publicly stating that he hopes the President Obama’s policies fail.

What does that say about the direction we are headed if the President with the support of Congress attach a private citizen that has committed no crime? That is a dangerous direction, for the nation as a whole.

Looking back at the rancor and insults that President Bush suffered through were monumental is their volume, veracity, and frequency; they were far worse that what Rush said about Obama.  Yet Bush never lowered himself to that level.  The leadership of the opposition called him dim-witted, ape-like, stupid (the list goes on and on) and he never responded in kind.

For all his faults, he did try to keep the level of debate at a higher level.  Unfortunately, if Obama is too thin skinned to not ignore Rush, then it does not bode well.

I too wish for Obama to fail.  I want his policies of nationalization and socialization to fail.  I want his attach on the entrepreneurial class to FAIL.  Wishing otherwise will devastate this country.

I would never want to be attacked by the President of the United States.  I want to have my say, influence who I can, but I want to live an ordinary life.  With the government going after private citizens, no one is safe.

It happened to “Joe the Plumber” and it is happening to Rush.  Imagine if it happened to you…

Why is it that Fox News simply creams everyone else?  What about little ole Olbermann at the very bottom…  I thought he was the turnaround agent for the news.  Here are my thoughts as to why Fox News cleans up:

1. Everyone that watches Fox News is asleep by 2pm, and their TVs are already tuned to Fair and Balanced channel
2. Their TVs are broken and they are unable to change the channel
3. It is a massive conspiracy perpetrated by el Rushbo to control not only AM but Cable News as well (fairly likely)
4. Obama has created this “alternative” to his administration to allow for a boogeyman (or make that “bogeychannel”)
5. Could it be that CNN and MSNBC simply suck? No, that can’t be it…

So the Speaker of the House wants to use Military planes for her personal and family use?

What happened to draining the swamp? The era of corruption didn’t end with Republicans losing control of Congress.  Unfortunately, it is well and alive with the Democrats as well.

Is it simply too much to ask to expect more of our leaders?
